It was a good day for
The British International School A division teams on Saturday when they
lifted the U8 and U14 division titles and won their semi-final
Greenfields Cup games in the C/D/E category.
In U8, JIS PIE were
unable to stop BIS running-out 3-1 winners and thereby give JIS PEL the
chance of a play-off place and a shot at the title. Two
goals from Callum McCombie and a second half strike from Dylan Hershon
was always going to be too much for a plucky JIS PIE side who scored a
consolation goal care-of Ossian Allansson just before half-time. With 7
wins and a draw BIS Red finish on 22 points and will lift the U8A trophy
on May 19th, ahead of JIS PEL and SD Al Fath as joint runners-up.
In U14, SMPI Al Azhar
gave a below-par performance and never really got going despite scoring
an early goal when Fadhil Handoko broke through and slotted home with
ease mid-way through the first half... When
Terence Lim converted from close range after a series of clever passing
moves BIS grew in confidence and two goals in the second half from
Danny Standish allowed the home side to settle their nerves and hold-out
for what was a comfortable 3-1 victory.
Game of the day however
was the top-of-the –clash and probable championship decider at the
Global Jaya venue between Netherlands International School and Dian
Harapan in U8C which saw Dian Harapan claw their way to the top of the
division on equal points with NIS in a real nail-biter. With seconds
left on the clock Dian Harapan slotted home the winner to go 5-4 up
after a goalmouth melee and send their mass supporters into wild
hysterics.
In the U16A All-Girls
division, a top of the table clash between Jakarta International School
and Negeri Tiga Cibinong finished in a goalless draw as neither side
could find a way through and leaves both teams locked together on 7
points. JIS White, in U16B, downed the German International School 2-0
and Central School overcame Singapore International 1-0 to stay in
contention in the title race. Sinar Mas World Academy move into second
place in the division following a convincing 2-0 win over Global Jaya.
The divisions are
coming down to-the-wire over the next 3 weeks and many teams are now
finished for the season. Make sure that your coaches respond to the Gala
Day ticket application as we will limit seats in the auditorium for the
event with a strict policy on the night.
